What is intraocular Balanced Salt Solution?

Intraocular ophthalmic (inside the eye) irrigation is a sterile cleansing solution.

Intraocular Balanced Salt Solution is used to maintain the natural condition of the eye during a surgical procedure such as cataract surgery.

Intraocular Balanced Salt Solution may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Important Information

After surgery, call your doctor if you have vision problems, eye pain or redness, or increased sensitivity to light.

Before taking this medicine

To make sure intraocular Balanced Salt Solution is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:

diabetes;

a history of glaucoma.

It is not known whether intraocular Balanced Salt Solution will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.

It is not known whether intraocular ophthalmic irrigation passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

How is intraocular Balanced Salt Solution given?

Intraocular Balanced Salt Solution is injected into the eye during surgery. A healthcare provider will give you this injection.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Because you will receive intraocular Balanced Salt Solution in a surgical setting, you are not likely to miss a dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Since this medication is given by a healthcare professional in a medical setting, an overdose is unlikely to occur.

What should I avoid while after receiving intraocular Balanced Salt Solution?

Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.

Intraocular Balanced Salt Solution side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
