Information on Azmacort

Uses
Azmacort® (triamcinolone acetonide) Inhalation Aerosol is used in the maintenance treatment of asthma in children 6 years of age and older and adults. Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol is also used for people with asthma who require oral steroids, where adding Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol may reduce or eliminate the need for the oral steroids.
Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol is NOT to be used to relieve sudden asthma symptoms.

Important Safety Information
Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol contains medication that is intended for treatment of asthma. It does not contain medication intended to provide rapid relief of your breathing difficulties during an asthma attack.
It is very important that you use Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol regularly at the intervals recommended by your healthcare professional, and not as an emergency measure. Your healthcare professional will decide whether other medication is needed, should you require immediate relief.

Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol should not be taken by people who are allergic to any product ingredient.
Use Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol regularly, as directed. Asthma may improve following one week of treatment, but maximum benefit may take two weeks or more. Do not increase the dose your healthcare professional has prescribed for you. Contact your healthcare professional if symptoms worsen or do not improve.

Contact your healthcare professional immediately if you experience shortness of breath or wheezing directly after a dose of Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol, or if your asthma does not improve after use of a rescue inhaler.
If changing to Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol from oral steroids, follow your healthcare professional’s instructions carefully. Oral steroids may be added during periods of stress or a severe asthmatic attack.

When changing from an oral steroid to Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol, you may experience allergy symptoms such as runny nose, itchy eyes and/or redness or itching of the skin. Some patients may also experience joint or muscle pain, tiredness, and/or depression.
Tell your healthcare professional about all your medical conditions and the medicines you take.

Localized infections with Candida albicans, a fungal infection, may occur in your mouth and throat while using Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol and should be treated by your healthcare professional.
Avoid exposure to chickenpox or measles and contact your healthcare professional immediately if exposed.
Orally inhaled steroids, including Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol may cause a reduction in growth rate in children. The long term effects on final adult height are unknown. To minimize these effects, your healthcare professional may adjust the medicine to the lowest dose that controls your symptoms.

Refer to the Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol Patient Guide you received along with your medication for important instructions on using Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol. You should track your use of Azmacort Inhalation Aerosol and dispose of the canister after 240 puffs.
The most common side effects when taking Azmacort include sinus infections, sore throat, headache, flu syndrome, and back pain.

【英文药品名】Triamcinolone Acetonide
【适应症】用于6岁以上儿童及成人的哮喘的持续治疗。 
【注重事项】 长期较大剂量应用皮质类激素药物，可引起医源性肾上腺皮质功能亢进症（类柯兴综合征），表现为满月脸、水牛背、向心性肥胖、皮肤菲薄而有紫纹、肌肉萎缩无力、骨质疏松、高血糖、糖尿、高血压、低血钾、女性男性化如多毛、长胡子、闭经、声粗等（代谢产物具有弱雄激素作用）、抑制小儿生长发育、胎儿畸形、诱发感染扩散、诱发溃疡病、诱发精神病、诱发糖尿病、诱发高血压、诱发胰腺炎；戒断综合征（肌痛、肌强直、关节痛等）；反跳现象（减量太快或忽然停药，原有症状可能迅速出现或加重）；医源性肾上腺皮质功能减退症（类肾上腺危象）：长期大剂量应用时，由于负反馈作用，使内源性糖皮质激素分泌减少，甚至肾上腺皮质萎缩，忽然停药后，如碰到应激情况，由于内源性氢化可的松分泌不足，可出现肾上腺皮质功能减退症，严重者可产生类似肾上腺危象，如低血压、低血糖、昏迷、休克等，可忽然昏倒。应及时用氢化可的松急救，第1日300mg，第2日100～200mg，静滴，辅以补液、抗休克及对症处理，待病情好转后改为替代疗法。肾上腺皮质功能亢进症、高血压、动脉硬化、水肿、青光眼、充血性心衰、糖尿病、溃疡病、精神病、癫痫病、骨质疏松症、妊娠早期、产褥期、儿童生长期、创伤、术后恢复期、一般病毒感染、酶菌感染及活动性肺结核等患者忌用。细菌感染必须配合大剂量有效的抗菌药物。应进低盐、低糖、高蛋白饮食，补钾、补钙及补充维生素D。用药2周以上，应逐渐减量缓慢停药。必要时可注射ACTH 25u／日。
